500 Carat Diamond Found

Miners in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho have found one of the world's largest diamonds, a near-flawless white gem weighing nearly 500 carats, mining group Gem Diamonds said on Sunday.

The diamond was discovered in the Letseng Mine on September 8, the company said in a statement. It has been analysed by experts in Antwerp and found to weigh 478 carats, with very few inclusions and of outstanding colour and clarity.

"It has the potential to yield one of the largest flawless D colour round polished diamonds in history," the company said.

The world's largest diamond is the Cullinan, discovered in South Africa in 1905. It weighed more than 3,100 carats before it was cut into more than one hundred separate gems, many of which are part of the British crown jewels.  Article

GREEN BAY, Wis. - A 33-year-old woman is charged with stealing her daughter's identity to attend high school and join the cheerleading team.

Wendy Brown, of Green Bay, faces a felony identity theft charge after enrolling in Ashwaubenon High School as her 15-year-old daughter, who lives in Nevada with Brown's mother.

"The defendant stated she wanted to get her high school degree and be a cheerleader because she had no childhood and was trying to regain a part of her life she missed," according to the complaint. Article

Naked Cowboy suit vs. M&Ms will proceed

A judge this week gave the green light to the Naked Cowboy's lawsuit against Mars Inc. for trademark infringement, stemming from an animated video that ran in Times Square which showed the blue M&M done up in Naked Cowboy-ish garb. The other big news: The Naked Cowboy, aka Robert Burck, isn’t seeking $6 million, as reported in February, but rather $100 million. He tells CNN: “I have spent 10 years in every kind of weather and going through the legal, step by step [process of getting a trademark],” Burck said. “It is imperative that damages are pushed so ... an example will be set.” The blue M&M has not commented publicly on the lawsuit.
