Ricoh_caplior40Ricoh have announced the new Caplio R40 as a more affordable 6 megapixel version of the highly successful Caplio R4 (released on March 17, 2006), which featured a 7.1x (28-200 mm) optical wide zoom lens and only a 0.09 second shutter lag. Inheriting the Caplio R4‘s unique Double Retracting Lens System*, the R40 houses a 5.7x (28-160 mm) wide-angle, high-powered zoom lens in its compact, 26-mm deep body with a 350 shot battery.  Available June, 2006 in Black only.  Source Product page via Engadget

Ricoh Caplio R4

Ricoh_caplior4tmThe Ricoh Caplio R4 digial camera is a 6 megapixel (CCD) digital camera with a nice large 7.1x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent of 28-200mm). Despite the large lens the camera weighs in at just 135 grams and is only 26mm thin.

It features a high resolution 2.5 inch LCD (154,000 pixels), anti-shake technology and boasts the ability to take 330 images per charge.
